Coalhouse Fort is a Victorian coastal defence fort set in parkland next to the River Thames at East Tilbury, Essex. Following a Royal Commission recommendation in 1860, the fort was completed in 1874 and is one of several built to defend London from possible invasion from continental powers such as France.
